I attended Tony Robbins’s seminar called, Unleash The Power Within, event in Los Angeles last week. This event was incredible and life changing. Today, I want to talk about disbeliefs we have in our minds.
Do You Have Disbeliefs?
Do you have disbeliefs in yourself? This is something we may not realize we have until we stop and think about it. Here are some common disbeliefs.
- I am not smart enough
- I am not pretty enough
- I am not capable of succeeding
- I am not good enough
- I am not a good enough mom
- I am not a good enough wife
- I am not strong enough
- I cannot lose weight
- I will never be able to afford it
- I will never be able to save money
Have you ever had any of these thoughts? I definitely have.
Not True
It is important to realize that our disbeliefs are not true. To be frank, our disbeliefs are BS. Disbeliefs are just thoughts that enter our mind. They are not facts and we cannot predict the future. It will take time to stop these thoughts from entering your mind. Recognize these disbeliefs when you think them and change your thought to the opposite.
Example: “I cannot lose weight”->recognize it->”I will lose weight.”
Disbeliefs Limit You
Disbeliefs limit you from living an amazing life. Your disbeliefs can prevent you from moving forward. This is kind of hard to explain so bare with me. Pretend that one of your disbeliefs was that you cannot succeed or hit a career goal. Because you do not believe this is possible, you may not try for a promotion or work as hard as you should to hit your goal. Here are some effects this disbelief could ultimately have on your life:
- No job promotion
- No significant raise
- Not enough money to buy a home
- Not enough money to save money for children’s college fund
- Not reach your potential
- You may not be able to help the people you could if you had your promotion
- Not afford to save for retirement
- Not be able to retire
Wow! Right? You may not realize how much your one disbelief can limit your life. A false belief can prevent you from a life of so much potential. You do not want to keep having these disbeliefs and realize in 10 years how much you missed out on and realize what your life could have been like.
