My Postpartum Journey
I gained 40 lbs during my pregnancy. Before getting
pregnant, I was toned. Now, I don’t mean I had a 6 pack or any pack for that
matter. I just mean I was working out 6 times a week and I was happy with my
body. After having Hudson, I of course had the fear of “Am I going to be able
to lose the weight.” So many moms will tell you that the weight does not come
off or that you will never get your body back.
The Postpartum Journey Began!
Here is a picture of me 5 days after having Hudson. This is to
show you that the weight or the tummy just does not disappear after you give
birth. I still look pregnant in this picture!
If you are reading this and you are currently pregnant or have not had children yet, please know that this is normal so you might want to lower your expectations of what your body will look like after the baby is out of your tummy.
I was 180lbs when I gave birth to Hudson so in this picture, I was down 15 lbs.
I am glad I didn’t let the fear of not being able to lose the weight or the feedback from previous moms stop me from trying to lose the weight. You never know until you try right?!
I am happy to say that I lost all of my pregnancy weight. Currently at the time I am typing this blog post, I am actually 2lbs lower than my pre pregnancy weight.
You Need To Do The Work
Now, the weight didn’t magically come off. I worked for it!! 2
weeks after having Hudson, I started to workout. I did take it easy though by
using lighter weights and listening to my body. (also had the doctor’s okay) I
think part of the reason I was able to bounce back into my workouts so quickly
is because I worked out through most of my pregnancy.
I completed 2 rounds of LIIFT4, 1 round of Transform 20, 1 round of 21 Day Fix Real Time, 1 round of 21 Day Fix Extreme Real Time. There were days where the scale wouldn’t budge and I was questioning if it was broken. There were days where my weight went up a little. The reason that I lost all of my pregnancy weight is because I kept going, I never quit!
Here is a picture that shows you my most recent results from a 3 week program. The baby weight is gone and I feel like myself again.
My Advice
So my advice to you if you are on your postpartum journey is to
be patient and be consistent. The weight will come off slowly but surely if you
work for it. It took me about 12 months to lose all of the weight. I should
also tell you that if I didn’t enjoy food so much, I could have lost it a
little faster probably, but I believe in balance and do not want to deprive myself.
Also, do not listen to those who say it can’t be done or that it is too hard.
You will never know until you try. You are capable of more than you realize.
