In 2013/2014, I was teaching 3 Zumba classes a week and working out from home 5 times a week. During this time, I was at a weight loss plateau for 8 months. In February 2014, Beachbody released a new program called 21 Day Fix and I decided to give it a try.
What Is The 21 Day Fix
The 21 Day Fix is a 21 Day program that comes with workout DVD’s, a workout calendar, a nutrition guide and 7 color coded tupperware containers. Here is a list of the workouts that come with the program:
- Total Body Cardio Fix
- Upper Fix
- Lower Fix
- Pilates Fix
- Cardio Fix
- Dirty 30
- Yoga Fix
- 10 Minute Fix For Abs
This program teaches portion control. The tupperware containers are color coded and the nutrition guide gives a list of foods allowed for each colored container. The nutrition guide also uses a calculation to determine how many containers are needed each day. Many people count calories, but with the 21 Day Fix, you do not need to worry about calories. You simply eat the right portions of the foods listed in the nutrition guide. People have been able to lose up to 15 lbs in 3 weeks with the 21 Day Fix. My Experience With The 21 Day Fix Nutrition Plan
When I began the 21 Day Fix, I didn’t know that my life would be forever changed. The tupperware containers taught me how much food I should be eating. I was definitely eating too many carbs and not enough fruit and veggies. I never really understood what clean eating meant as far as what I could and could not eat. This program helped me immensely. I know exactly what I should be eating and what I should not be eating. The first 3 days of the program I was very hungry and it took a lot of self control to follow the nutrition plan. However, on day 4, the constant hunger disappeared. I quickly learned that once I started fueling my body with the proper nutrition and foods, I wasn’t hungry 20 minutes after I ate. Before starting the 21 Day Fix, I was constantly hungry. This is because I was eating food, but the food wasn’t giving me the nutrition my cells were craving. The great thing about this nutrition plan is that it can be a lifestyle plan. I try to eat by this plan most days. 😉
My Experience With The 21 Day Fix Workouts
I was very surprised at how sore my body was the first week of the 21 Day Fix. Remember, prior to starting this program, I was working out 5 days a week. Each day was a different workout and I loved this because I did not get bored. I was also happy that the workouts were only 30 minutes. A 30 minute workout is very doable, even with a busy schedule. A set of light and heavy weights or a resistance band are needed for some of the workouts. My strength definitely increased in these 3 short weeks.
My 21 Day Fix Results
Are you curious about my results? In the first 3 days of this program, I lost 3 lbs. My 8 month weight loss plateau was over in just 3 days!! I remember looking down at the scale and having a huge smile on my face. After completing the 21 Day Fix, I lost 7 lbs and 11 inches overall. Besides losing weight and inches, I had a lot of energy. I gained confidence and was very happy. This program changed my life because it taught me how to eat right and that I cannot out-exercise a bad diet. To this day, I know how important my nutrition is and I know how great my body is capable of feeling. This program was only 3 weeks, but it was a challenge for me and it took a lot of willpower and determination. I now know how amazing it feels to actually succeed and not give up.
